Car videos on Youtube are great, you get to learn about the car/engine/tyres and that from the comments, have a little laugh with a racist joke that will be lerking about in the comments somewhere, then watch the video understanding everything. Youtube is my teacher.

If you like to see interesting different engined cars, look up turbine car, or steam, or compressed air car on youtube. To all the people who hate on alternative power plant research, i look forward to seeing you in your flintstone mobile when oil runs dry!

I LOVE ROTARY ENGINE IS UNIQUE THE CAR IS THE BEST LOOKIN CAR UNDER 50$ CAR & DRIVER MAG. EXPERT OPINIONS MAKE RX8 WINNER AGAINST AUDI TT,SHELBY,NISSAN 350. I KNOW RX8 NEED EXTRA CARE BUT WHO CARES WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR YOU KNOW IT WORTH THE EXTRA CARE

@Manoo62 And I’m not arguing that a rotary doesn’t consume 3.9L over the period of time that it takes a face to complete intake/compression/combustion/exhaust, I’m simply stating that a rotary consumes the same amount of air as ANY 2.6L piston engine running at the same RPM, and that this is the most logical way to compare the two types of engines.

@Manoo62 The 2.6L comparison works for ANY piston engine. If you have a 2.6L 6 cylinder engine, it will consume 1.3L per rev. The only difference is, it will have a different firing frequency @ 3 fires per rev where a rotary or a 4 cyl will have 2 fires per rev. But the volume of air consumed will be the same.

yeah jeremy favors this car for the pice of true garbage it is . but he can easily talk shit about the gtr in his video he’s truly hopeless when it comes to reviewing these cars, and he also has writers who write his scripts for the show

@neXib QED I think.

@Manoo62 I’m not the one claiming a 1,3 litre engine is a 3,9 litre. The 1,3 is a 3,9, if your 3.0 is also a 6.0. So we agree then. Fine. Thank you, come again.

@neXib You obviously have no comprehension of the internals of ANY engine. Stop posting crap and go troll somewhere else.

@Manoo62 No, it displaces 1,3 litres in 1 “stroke” while a 3 litre displaces 3 litres in one stroke. It doesn’t matter how many strokes there are in total.

@Mazda7Rotary As I have already pointed out the speed of the output shaft is completely irrelevant to engine capacity. The ONLY thing that counts is the rotor itself because 1 thermodynamic cycle = 1 rev of the rotor. 1 thermodynamic cycle of a piston engine is 2 revs of the crank. so its the swept volume for 1 thermodynamic cycle which gives engine capacity. And we know what that is.
The 2.6L comparison only works for a 4 cylinder engine, but a 6 cyl engine is the only real comparison.

(pt.2) If you subtract the smallest volume from the largest volume of each individual rotor face, it’s a 3.9L. But, if we’re comparing a rotary to a piston engine, the most logical displacement measurement is 2.6L since the volume of air moved is roughly proportional to power produced in any engine as long as VE, BSFC, and internal friction are similar.

@Manoo62 Aren’t we talking about comparative capacity here? The fact is, a 1.3L rotary moves the same amount of air as a 2.6L piston engine at a given rpm. You can call it a 3.9L all day, it’s not going to hurt my feelings, I couldn’t care less about hp/L. If you subtract the smallest volume from the largest volume inside each rotor housing, you end up with a volume of 1.3L. If you compare the volume of air moved per unit RPM to a piston engine, it is equal to a 2.6L. (cont.)

Manoo62
Aug 22, 2010 at 06:03

@neXib So that would be the same as the six chambers in a rotary adding up to 3.9L then. Well I am glad we agree.

neXib
Aug 22, 2010 at 06:45

@Manoo62 No, using my dumb ass logic means a 3.0L V6 is a 3.0L V6. As that’s the volume the pistons displace in the cylinder.

Manoo62
Aug 22, 2010 at 07:23

@Mazda7Rotary If you are not going to count all of the six cambers in the engine then you are deluding yourself, which is common for rotary owners. There is a big difference between comparative and actual capacity, the rest of us know you made a mistake but your too dumb to see it.

Manoo62
Aug 22, 2010 at 08:08

@neXib Using your dumb ass logic would mean a 3.0L V6 would become a 1.0L twin.
