The Mazda has a big smile only because it knows it is so much better than a pathetic Hyundai. I think it is laughing… but don’t ask me… just ask the Hyundai that has exploded into little pieces of scrap metal.
Let me bring out my violin and play a sad tune… Hyundais are the worst cars ever made, except for Daewoo and other tripe. What’s a bet the coupe blows up before it can even hit the first corner. Don’t worry about the torque steer… just because you don’t have the muscle to hold a steering wheel… why not buy a Nissan Micra? I have never liked Fords but I admit that is due to bias and the Focus is a great car… I have never liked Hyundais but that is just because they are scrap metal.
But you must consider the look/style of the Mazda3. It looks like a big mouth box. Perception is everything. The Genesis coupe looks exotic and sexy. I will go with the coupe.
@VAspeed3 Never said the hyundai was my #1 sports car pick, but when I want a “sports car”, I want it to look the part. It also won’t be the only family car, either…I have wife and kids, also. Mine are old enough not to worry about car seats,etc.. That is my point. These hatches just don’t do it for me…I remember when the hatches came out (80′s), so I think that has something to do with it.
@donnis618 Once you get 3 kids, all their junk, and enough tuition cost to buy 2 brand new cars every year, your concern over mere appearance may wane. Although I involved her in the financial decision, I bought the MS3 on my own — wife did not care for it then and still doesn’t. If you think the Hyundai is so beautiful, go buy one. It would be completely useless to me. When I do buy a sports car, I’ll expect it to outperform the grocery getters. See you in the rear view.

@KANATADOMPIZ they gave them the win because the mazda OFFERS more for a cheaper price is what he basically said. he stated that the mazda does well on the slalom and the windy road coarse, mazda offers a Navigation system a BOSS sound system. i always go for rear wheel drive because im a drifter however the mazda DOES offer more for less and that alone should win. if Hyundai offered you the same things then they would have won but they didnt. dont blame mazda blame hyundai for being cheap!
This is very simple go with your heart. If you enjoy driving either vehicle then purchase what is right. We all have our taste just like clothing. I purchased a 2008 mazdaspeed3 w/19,000 miles on the engine for $22k cash love it and of course extended warranty. I love it but the 93oct gas w/15-18 mpg can raise my blood pressure. It is fast yes great bose system. But hey now I have the GTI barking test test. And with my $20k nice downpayment for a porche but then somebody would be complaining!

The Mazda 3 is the winner here. But Hyundai doesn’t disappoint and it’s a damn good start for their first real sports car. The sky is the limit for Hyundai and it’s already showing the big boys a thing or two about making cars. In about 5 years from now.. Hyundai is going to be touted as one of the big boys. Just look at their cars and the lineup they have…
So.. even though Hyundai can’t match Mazda now, it will very very soon.
Lets face it,
Mazda has a long pedigree of sports cars. The legendary RX-7 / The legendary Miata, the rotary engine RX-8. Mazda is a savvy experienced leader in the sports car division.. especially in handling. And the Mazda speed pedigree is clearly showcased in the Mazda Furai. Mazda has a rich 40year history of making rotary engines for race cars…
Hyundai just started making its first real sports car in 2009. And to be honest, it’s a damn good start. Hyundai has come along way…
@VAspeed3 Your wrong there…Looks are very important. I’m not going to sweating 60 months of payments on something that’s ugly as that mazda. IDK how it “handles”. Point is men nowadays have had their nuts removed and think a 5 door hatch is a sports car. This whole”hatch” movement makes me sick. Your woman is going to tell you what car to buy?? I would buy a coupe anyday if I want something sporty….
this is so biased recently genesis beat porche in a race obviously if a looks like a fucking ugly helmet like mazda and subaru, its going to have better grip… fucking idiots its called weight distribution and genesis wasnt built for that its suppose to drift better

The Genesis Coupe need a serious driver. Real drivers have proven the Coupe to be superior on a race track and not just better at acceleration and braking, so which is the “real sports car” here? It appears that most “testers” are afraid that they’ll lose all credibility if they say the Hyundai is better than any other car. The truth is that they have forfeited their credibility doing biased “tests” like this one.
